Within a landscape, a nimbed Onuphrius of Egypt, wearing sackcloth, kneels with his hands joined before a crucifix in a niche of a stone wall. He holds a rosary in his right hand.
The scene is framed by a border decorated with flowers, including a potted plant, and inhabited by a butterfly, snails, and a fly.
