John the Baptist, who has a decorated nimbus, is wearing a garment of animal skin with the head attached. With his right hand, he indicates the Lamb of God, which has a cross-projecting nimbus and is lying on the book held in his left hand. The donor Pierre de Bosredont kneels before him with joined hands. He has a sword at his waist, and a helmet and gauntlet lie on floor beside him. The figures are in a windowed room and are surrounded by three inscribed tapestries: 1) ELIZABETH ... ET MULTUM; 2) INTER NATOS MULIERUM NON SURREXIT MAIOR IOHANNE BAPTISTA FUIT HOMO MISSUS A DEO CUI NOMEN ERAT IOHANNES (from versicle and response of Suffrage based on John 01:06); 3) ZACHARIA ... NATIVITA[...].
The border is inscribed PIERRE DE BOSREDONT and DI CHOSSON DE NIBORO. The margins are decorated with floreate ornament inhabited by a squirrel (?), a bird, and two rabbits flanking shields. A monogram of the initials A and P linked by a love knot is in the left margin. In the lower margin the heraldic shields flanked by the rabbits are of Hospitallers (gules, a cross argent) and Pierre de Bosredont (quarterly, vair and gules).
