What do the stars have in store for you? Lay underneath the gilded skies in J. Pierpont Morgan’s Historic Library as a museum educator guides you through the secrets of the star-studded ceiling. Find your zodiac sign, explore Greek and Roman mythology, and discuss what the future holds for you and your peers during this exclusive astrological journey.

Celebrate Black voices in art and literature with a special behind-the-scenes look at the Sherman Fairchild Reading Room.
The Reading Room serves researchers of rare materials with a focus on the history, art, and literature of the Western world. College students will view works from the Morgan’s large reference collection including Kara Walker: a black hole is everything a star longs to be, Encyclopedia of the Black Arts Movement, At freedom’s door: African American founding fathers and lawyers in Reconstruction South Carolina, and more!

Drop by J. Pierpont Morgan’s Historic Library and be inspired by the art and architecture all around you. In this free drop-in program, college students are encouraged to explore the historic rooms and objects on view and sketch what speaks to them.
Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to join. While artists should plan to bring their own materials, please note that ink, paint, markers, charcoal, chalk, pastels, folding stools, and easels are not permitted.

Where did paint come from in the Middle Ages? Take a close look at some of the most stunning illuminated manuscripts in the Morgan’s collection and discuss the origins of the colors that fill the pages. Workshop participants will then use traditional tools to make pigments, mix watercolor paints, learn how to apply 22-karat gold leaf, and craft their own medieval-inspired masterpiece. All materials will be provided.

Celebrate Women’s voices in classical music with a self-guided listening tour. The Morgan’s Music Manuscript and Printed Music collection is home to scores by Clara Schumann, Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn, Amy Beach, Cecile Chaminade, and others. College students will listen to a curated playlist while strolling through the museum’s galleries and historic spaces.
