Notes
A light even film of ink over the entire plate creates a tonal effect similar to that which appears in the following impression, printed on Japanese paper. (Boston 1969, no. 21)
The cupola burnished out, leaving a square tower. The black blobs burnished quite clean. Vertical lines have been added to the thatched roof nearest the spectator; further hatching to the sky on the far left, and drypoint on the trees on the left in shadow. (White and Boon)
