RvR 104
NHD number
NHD 298, I
Notes
Watermark: None.
An impression on Japanese paper which is in sharp contrast to the other impression on European paper in its blurred contours and opaque areas of deep shadow. These effects are attributable in part to the manner in which heavy drypoint burr prints on the absorbent Japanese paper. Deep shadow obscures the people behind Christ and emphasizes his figure. In this impression the artist seems to have attempted to change the old man at the right margin from a seated to a standing figure by means of special inking. (Boston 1969, no. 44)
One of two impressions in the Library (see RvR 103).
Only one state.
