Concert | Sonnambula: Instruments of Affection; Mozart's Violin in Concert
Join us for a rare and extraordinary musical experience: a selection of Mozart’s beloved chamber works performed on the baroque violin of his youth, on loan from the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Hear these masterpieces as Mozart himself might have—brought to life by the historically-informed ensemble Sonnambula, using the instrument that helped shape his earliest compositions. The program also features music by Marianna Martines, Mozart’s prized student.
Sonnambula is a historically-informed ensemble that brings to light unknown music for various combinations of early instruments. The ensemble has performed on historic instruments at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, has been featured ensemble at the Amherst and Boston Early Music Festivals, and has presented concerts at Alice Tully Hall, Columbia University, The Hispanic Society of America, among others.
This concert takes place in Gilder Lehrman Hall on the Ground Floor. Doors to the Hall will open 30 minutes before the concert begins. Attendees are invited to view the exhibition Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Treasures from the Mozarteum Foundation of Salzburg during their museum visit.
