Hastings (left) stands facing the much taller Thurlow, who pulls from his mouth a long rope of jewels, coils of which lie on the ground. Fox and Burke (left) kneel behind Hastings, pulling from his posteriors similar ropes of jewels. Hastings says, "These Monsters will tear out my very Intrails"; Thurlow says, "He shant be hurt if his Gut holds out"; at his feet lies a medicine-phial inscribed 'Justice' which is spilling its contents. Fox says, "We'll Gutt him"; Burke says, "The sight of these is good for the Eyes". George III (right), seated behind Thurlow in an ornamental chair, eats the end of a long rope of jewels which lies in coils on the floor. He says, "These is provision for a K-----g poor soul I'll take care he shan't be hurt." Cf. British Museum online catalog.
