A pair of fashionables : enough to turn any one's head
London : Pub by T. McLean Haymarket, 4 Oct. 1827
First half of title printed at the top of the image; the second half printed at the bottom, upside down.
Trimmed to within plate mark.
Formerly owned by Sir Robert Peel.
A double portrait-- one figure upside down, one right side up, the soles of their shoes touching. In the top half is a young dandy in a top hat and extravagantly lapelled jacket with a nipped-in waist, flared trousers, a flowing necktie and luxurient curls. He is smoking. In the bottom half is a tiny, pretty young woman dwarfed by her voluminous blue dress and enormous hat covered in flowers, feathers, and lace. Her waist is miniscule, and the ribbons from her hat reach almost to her feet.
