Summary

Print shows an exhibition of a Sami family and a herd of reindeer installed in the William Bullock's Piccadilly Egyptian Hall in 1822. The family, including Karina, her husband Jens, and their 5 year old son, are surrounded by visitors in front of a tent against a painted backdrop of an icy northern landscape. At left, a fenced herd of reindeer are surrounded by spectators. Articles of Sami clothing are displayed on the wall above. A border containing individual illustrations of Sami artifacts surrounds the central image, including two scenes at bottom flanking the caption title; one at left depicting a sled drawn by a reindeer in a winter landscape, and the other showing a carriage drawn by a reindeer and driven by two fashionably dressed Londoners at right. The various subjects of the print are numbered, with explanatory text at bottom.
