Albums containing plates dated 1732 to 1781.
Collection of 85 etchings and engravings by and after William Hogarth; excepting the prints Before and After, the albums include all plates listed for sale by Hogarth's widow at her shop, the Golden Head, in Leicester Fields in 1765, with only one version of Characters of heads and the addition of plates "Scholars at a lecture", "Chorus of singers", "Battle of the pictures", "Time smoking a picture", "The company of undertakers", "Laughing audience", "Martin Folkes", and "The politician", in v. 3. Cf. Ray and Paulson.
Individual sets of prints and individual published plates included in the 3 albums have been cataloged separately.
Engravers beside Hogarth include Baron, Ravenet, and Scotin.
Large plates bound as issued, others mounted onto bound album leaves, a few of the plates closely trimmed.
