Engraving by Henry Meyer of a portrait of Lord Byron after a miniature painting by George Sanders; evidently commissioned by the publisher John Murray to serve as a frontispiece for the octavo edition of Childe Harold's pilgrimage. Byron objected strongly to the engraving and wrote to Murray on Oct. 12, 1812 demanding that he see to the destruction of both the plate and all proof impressions made of the print. Cf.
