Telescopic multicolored peepshow of the Nutcracker ballet, comprising three cut-out images, a backdrop, and a proscenium, which are connected on the vertical sides by bands of accordion pleated paper.
The proscenium depicts a Russian castle flanked by a toy soldier and Marie holding the Nutcracker doll. A peephole in the center looks through the stage populated with dancers, to the backdrop depicting the Christmas tree, toy soldiers, and mice.
A synopsis based on the original story by E.T.A. Hoffmann in 1816, is on the verso of the backdrop.
