The United Kingdom Beneficent Association was founded in 1863 with the aim of aiding older persons of upper and middle classes in reduced circumstances who were unable to earn a living due to infirmity. In 1911 it was granted a royal charter, and the name was changed to Royal United Kingdom Beneficent Association.
Item bound into an album formerly in the possession of Hester Thackeray Fuller, containing collected items chiefly pertaining to the life, career, or associates of William Makepeace Thackeray (see PML 145496).
