After one of a series of views commissioned from Bonington by the Swiss publisher and gallery owner J.F. d'Ostervald for his Excursions sur les cotes et dans les ports de France, 1823-1825; an original watercolor by Bonington of this subject, with the descriptive title "The mouth of the Somme, with St. Valery sur Somme and Le Crotoy in the distance to the right" was sold at auction by Bonhams on June 6, 2006 (Sale 14300, lot 57).
