Print shows a scene illustrating Act 1 Scene 1 of Shakepeare's Merry Wives of Windsor: Anne Page stands at the doorway of the Page house inviting Slender, who stands awkwardly in the foreground with his hand to his mouth, to come inside; through a window at right, the faces of a large gathering of guests are visible.
