Album of individual etchings and suites of plates by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince [print].

Le Prince, Jean-Baptiste, 1734-1781.
Published
[Paris] : s.n., 1763-1775 ([182- restrikes]).

Notes
Album apparently composed of early 19th century impressions of Le Prince's prints printed on wove paper with several of the plates variously watermarked with the dates 1811, 1818, and 1822, making the collection considerably later than the posthumous 1782 edition of Le Prince's etchings and aquatints issued by Pierre Franç̧ois Basan (1723-1797) who had acquired the artist's original plates shortly after his death in 1781.
Sets and individual prints comprising this album have been cataloged separately (see PML 141253.1-31).
Volume consists of 69 prints executed in etching and aquatint by Le Prince, including collected suites of prints (some of them incomplete) and individual plates by Le Prince, most of them depicting life and scenery in Russia and the northern nations and dated from 1763 to 1775. Collections of Le Prince's etchings and aquatints such as this one were evidently acquired from the publisher or printseller and bound up without a collective title, with the resulting volumes typically varying somewhat in content and in the number of plates included.
Some of the individual prints printed in brown ink.
The suites of plates and individual etchings comprising this album have been cataloged separately (see 141253.1-31).
