Photograph of Jarry, Rachilde, and a woman identifed by scholars as Marie Thérèse Collière (see Rachilde's inscription, which identifies her as Maria Talbot, the wife of Pierre Quillard) on the lawn at the house nicknamed the Phalanstery in Corbeil, spring or summer 1898. Rachilde and the woman are preparing to play shuttlecock. Jarry, wearing Rachilde's shoes, is holding up the hem of Rachilde's dress. In the far background, between Jarry and Rachilde, is a figure that resembles A. Ferdinand Hérold.

Inscriptions/Markings
Inscribed in ink in Rachilde's hand on the verso: "Mme Pierre Quillard, moi et le Père Ubu, c'est à dire Alfred Jarry (que nous appelions toujours ainsi.) Je suis en train de remettre en état le disque d'un jeu de grâce et Jarry tient la traîne de ma robe pour la garer des buissons[?]."
