Inscriptions/Markings
Inscribed on bottom of foot, "6 Marcos 6 oncas". Scratched into base, by a later hand, "Jimin'Cos Comps". This inscription refers to Jimenez Cisneros Complutensis, who may be identified with Jimenez de Cisneros, Cardinal of Toledo (1436-1517), founder of the seminary of Acala de Henares. The date date of the piece, however, rules out Cisneros as author or owner.
