The figures on the recto correspond to six of the apostles who surround the empty sarcophagus of the Virgin in Francesco Botticini's visionary painting "The Coronation of the Virgin", now in the National Gallery, London. The three apostles on the left in the Library's drawing stand to the right of the sarcophagus in the picture by Botticini, while the three on the right in the drawing appear on the left in the painting.
