Part of a lot purchased circa 1916 by Francis Willey Kelsey (1858-1927) in the Fayyūm, through the agency of Dr. David L. Askren, an American missionary and physician residing in the Fayyūm; brought to Rome by Kelsey in the beginning of 1920 and purchased by Henri Hyvernat on behalf of J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).
