Brown calf, blind-stamped with tools of eagles, lions, arcade with human figures and Trier crosses, over oak boards, with original brass bosses and clasp-pins with their crosses and arms of Falkenstein-Muzenberg. New leather over spine and board edges, straps replaced; original tooling designs largely illegible. Housed in green morocco box by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London, 1959.

Made for Kuno von Falkenstein, Archbishop of Trier (1362-1388); escutcheon-shaped upper clasp on front cover engraved with cross identified as that of Trier (argent, a cross gules), escutcheon-shaped lower clasp on front cover engraved with arms identified as those of Falkenstein-Munzenberg (or, a chief gules); Monastery of Amorbach, Bavaria, Gräflich Erbachisches Gesamthaus-Archiv, Erbach im Odenwald; Kurt Arnhold (1887-1951), Dresden; purchased in Jan. 1959 from William H. Schab, New York for William S. Glazier (1907-1962), New York; deposited in the Pierpont Morgan Library by the Trustees of the William S. Glazier Collection in 1963.

The illumination of G.54 is unfinished. The miniatures on fols. 32v (Roads to Heaven and Hell) and 34v (Ladder of Virtues and Vices) have not been completed.
Decoration: 69 miniatures, 1 marginal historiation, numerous illuminated initials.
