Provenance
Fol. 13-14 are earlier in date (ca. 1495) and come from a manuscript written for Charles VIII of France; on fol. 13v the arms of France, and of Sicily quartered with Jerusalem with motto: loz en croessant; on fol. 14r the king between the Magdalen and Christ as a gardener; purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) from Quaritch in 1907; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).

Book of hours for the use of Rome (Hours of the Virgin, Office of the Dead); written and illuminated in France, perhaps in Berry, ca. 1510; 2 inserted miniatures executed in Tours, ca. 1495.
Decoration: 28 miniatures, 24 calendar illustrations.
Artist: Jean Poyer (formerly Poyet) painted the 2 inserted miniatures; the later illustration is by an unknown provincial artist.
