Apparently in Paris in the 18th century, from a rhymed inscription on leaf after calendar; bought Oct. 17, 1893 by Richard Bennett; Catalogue of manuscripts and early printed books from the libraries of William Morris, Richard Bennett, Bertram, fourth Earl of Ashburnham, and other sources, no. 82; purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) with the Bennett Collection in 1902; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).

Ms. book of hours for the use of Rome (Hours of the Virgin, Office of the Dead); written and illuminated in Belgium, perhaps in Mons, ca. 1450-1460.
Decoration: 11 half-page miniatures.
Artist: Dogaer attributes the miniatures to the School of Jacquemart Pilavaine; Gregory Clark in his description of this manuscript held at the Pierpont Morgan Library (PML files) attributes the miniatures to a follower of the Master of the Ghent Privileges and the borders to Jacquemart Pilavaine.
