19th-century (?) red velvet over 15th-century brown vegetable-tanned calfskin, possibly blind-stamped, over wooden boards; covered endbands with saddle-stitching. 19th-century (?) silver-gilt catches and clasps, with initials C and H joined by a love-knot.

Ca. 1494, made for Cornelis Croesinck (d. 1519) and his second wife Hildegard van Alkemade, pictured on fol. 121v, their initials C and H, joined by love-knots, on the clasps of the binding; their arms, with unidentified initials GAL on 109v: on the left: quartered, 1 and 4, azure, three tumblers argent, 1 and 3, gules, a lion rampant or, armed and langued azure (Croesinck); mantling, azure and argent; crest: on a torse, gules and or, a figure, or, holding up a goblet between two wings, argent; on the right: supported by a griffon, the arms argent, sable, armed and crowned, or (Alkemade) impaled by Croesinck; on fol. 1r: oval stamp with BIBLIOTH.
