Provenance
Written for an Augustinian foundation; Pope Pius V (1566-1572, added leaf I has inscription saying that by tradition this breviary belonged to Pius V and was obtained by Cardinal Bolongnetti from his heirs); Cardinal Alberto Bolognetti (1538-1585); owned by Fulvia, a Bolognetti family member, in 1694 (inscription on inserted leaf ii stating ownership, with laudatory poem to Pius V, signed and dated by Fra Pancratius of the Discalced Carmelites); purchased from Boone in 1860 by Henry Hucks Gibbs, first Lord Aldenham (annotation on flyleaf removed from manuscript); purchased at the Aldenham Library sale (London, Sotheby's, Mar. 22, 1937, lot. 83).

Decoration: 3 full-page miniatures, 65 historiated initials, 6 full and 57 one-column illuminated borders, with figured and historiated vignettes.
