Notes
Ms. psalter followed by the canticles (fols. 136v-148v) and litany fols. 148v-153v); written and illuminated in Amiens, France, possibly in the Abbey of St. Fuscien, but probably for Amiens Cathedral between 1297 and the first decade of the 14th century.
The presence of Louis of France in the Litany (fol. 150v) suggests a date of 1297 or later.
The names of saints Firmin, Fuscien, Victoricus, and Gentian on fol. 150v are associated with Amiens.
Decoration: 8 large historiated initials, 1 full historiated border, marginal grotesques and narrative vignettes.
Artist : Artist of the Corbie Missal, Amiens, Bibl. mun. 157.
M.796 contains many folios featuring foliate initials and isolated marginalia, mostly birds, animals, and simple hybrids. These folios were not cataloged at the folio-level. All pages with historiated initials plus those pages with significant marginalia were cataloged.
