Written on a sheet of letterhead stationery of "Senter House, / Centre Harbour, N.H. / Gilman & Huntress" and on three pages of a letter (2 p.) from Whittier dated "Amesbury, 27th 8 mo. 1861." Possible date of manuscript is taken from this letter. In the letter, which is to an unidentified recipient, Whittier discusses plans to travel to Centre Harbour, N.H., and says that he would be glad to see the recipient and "Mary Blair" if they are "still at Plymouth."
