19th-century half brown goatskin, with marbled paper sides, over paper boards (28 x 20.5 cm), sewn on 6 supports. Plain paper pastedowns and endleaves; decorative endbands; red edges.

Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Contemporary Dutch rubrication, major initials in blue with red penwork decoration and yellow wash, with red minor initials, paragraph marks, and capital strokes. Annotations: No marginal notations in text. Contemporary manuscript alphabetic signatures (a, aa, aaa, etc. = a1, a2, a3, etc.). Extensive modern bibliographic notes in 2 Latin hands and by J.B. Inglis (front endleaf 2r-v), addition tipped-in leaf with notes by Inglis, foliation, and some cross-references added to text by Inglis.

John Bellingham Inglis (1780-1870), perhaps purchased from T. Connolly, Dublin (ticket on front pastedown), shelf mark: C 117, with 117 crossed out and replaced by 32 (front endleaf 2 recto) and cut-out prints, including Inglis armorial and vellum title label probably from original binding (front pastedown and leaf [16]/8v), part of library inherited by his son: Cornelius Inglis, M.D. (1824-1907), booklabel (front pastedown), his sale, Sotheby's, 11 June 1900, lot 746 for £16.10.0 to Tregaskis; unidentified English sale catalogue descriptions, no. 804 (front endleaf 1 verso) and no. 494 for fr. 500 (rear pastedown); Pierpont Morgan, purchased from Tammaro de Marinis, 1911.
