Late 19th/early 20th-century English blind- and gilt-tooled full brown goatskin over heavy paper boards (41 x 29.5 cm), sewn on 6 supports by Riviere and Son; previously bound in 1 volume, with offset of illumation from leaf [27]/1r on [26]/12v. Previous blind-tooled calf cover reused as front pastedowns (from the Augsburg, Sechsblatt-Blüte bindery (EBDB w000959/Kyriss 78, active 1473-1501, bindery also known as 6-Blatt-Blüte; Paulus Wolf; Uffenheim Hauptwerkstatt; Augsburg Head-over-heels-Meister; Augsburg Head-over-heels Binder); marbled paper pastedowns and endleaves, with modern plain paper endleaves; decorative endbands; gilt edges.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Contemporary Augsburg rubrication, red initials and yellow capital strokes/fill; primary initials illuminated with painted foliate borders (leaves [1]/2r, [21]/1r, [27]/1r, and [42]/2r). Annotations: Missing text replaced in contemporary manuscript (leaves [8]/3r, [9]/6v, and [20]/5v).
