18th/19th-century gilt-tooled English red straight grain morocco over paper boards (33 x 23.5 cm), sewn on 5 bands, with the gilt armorial of Michael Wodhull. Gilt-rolled turn-in and yellow paper pastedowns and fly leaves; gilt edges.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Rubricated, red lombards with green penwork flourishing, red rubrics, running headlines, paragraph marks, and capital strokes; flourished catchwords.

Maffeo Pinelli (1736-1785), Pinelli's heirs sold the collection to the London bookseller James Edwards, one of the ships was captured by pirates the books thrown overboard; Pinelli sale, James Edwards, 2 March 1789, lot 5145; Michael Wodhull (1740-1816), inscription (first paper fly leaf), purchased from Edwards, 7 April 1789, Wodhull left his collection to his sister-in-law Mary Ingram, who left it in 1824 to Samuel Amy Severne; J.E.
