Contemporary German blind-stamped pigskin over partially-bevelled wooden boards (43 x 29.5 cm) sewn on 5 supports, by the Bamberg Carmelite or Capuchin bindery (EBDB w002896, active 1466-79, also known as the Bamberg Kapuzinerkloster, the Kapuziner Bamberg, and the Werkstatt Stempelblüte III). Decorative endbands. 2 clasps; damage from chain hasp on rear board. Front endleaf is a manuscript episcopal document by the Friedrich [von Parsberg], Bishop of Regensburg discussing the Benedictine monastery of St. Emmeram at Regensburg and abbot Wolfhard Strauss, and including the date 1438; rear endleaf is a manuscript legal document or will dated 1471 with the surnames scraped out. The rear pastedown is a list of the rubrics for Bernard Richel's Biblia latina edition of not after 1474 (ISTC ib00537000/GW 4212), two copies of the same leaf used as binder's waste are preserved at the University of Maryland.
