The connecting passage between Benjamin Wistar Morris's 1928 Annex building and McKim, Mead, and White's 1906 Library, known as the Cloister, featured a painted ceiling designed by Wistar Morris in conjunction with the firm Mack, Jenney & Tyler, decorative painters with offices at 15 West Thirty-Eighth Street. This drawing, and an archival photograph (insert number, image at right) document this passage, which was renovated during the 1960 Alexander P. Morgan project, when the ceiling was lowered and a second story was added. Soon after, the passage was named the Heinemann Gallery, in honor of drawings collectors Rudolf and Lore Heinemann. The passage was later eliminated as part of the Morgan's 2006 Renzo Piano expansion project.
