Notes
Born and trained in Dublin, Buck eventually moved to London, where his elegant portrait drawings were in high demand. He also produced a large number of decorative fashion plates, which may explain the refined Neoclassicism apparent in this portrait of the nine youngest of the twelve children of Richard Bagot (1782-1854), who in 1825 was a canon of Windsor and later became bishop of Bath and Wells. -- Exhibition Label, from "Life Lines: Portrait Drawings from Dürer to Picasso."
