Notes
Little is known about Marcel Eugène Louveau-Rouveyre, who was active in Paris and studied under Jean Joseph Benjamin Constant (1845-1902), Léon Bonnat (1833-1922), and Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921). This drawing, executed predominantly in watercolor, features "la salle des traîneaux" (the sleigh room) in the muśee de Cluny in Paris. The room featured in this drawing was presumably so named because of the large, ornate carriage in the left foreground. While the Napoleonic carriage is not a medieval object for which the museum is known, the room itself appears as a storage space where odds and ends are stacked high to the ceiling.
