Notes
Watermark: quadruped (sheep?) above "ROSA".
One of a group of similarly spontaneous sketches that clearly derive from the drawings of Giambattista Tiepolo, this vigorous study of two turbaned figures is now regarded as a work by Domenico. It presumably dates from the very beginning of his career, when he was a key member of his father's busy and successful workshop. --Exhibition Label, from "Tiepolo, Guardi, and Their World: Eighteenth-Century Venetian Drawings"
