Description
The present drawing has been dated by Saccomani to ca. 1550-52, on the basis of its similarity to painted works of that period, such as Domenico’s Supper in the House of Simon (Prague) and Feast of Herod (Copenhagen, Statens Museum for Kunst). The unusual format is suggestive of a fresco or painting, such as an overdoor or predella panel.
Inscriptions/Markings
Inscribed at lower right, in pen and brown ink, "4" (?); at upper left corner of verso of lining in pen and brown ink, "g (or B?)"; at lower right in graphite, "23 / H" (encircled).
