Inscribed (signed?) in pen and brown ink: at lower right, "Painted from Nature by Thos Robins the Younger Bath 1786"; letters "a" to "d" below individual flowers and numerals "1" and "2" below butterflies. Lettered in black ink at lower center of old mount: "No. 21 Vol. 1st".
